Experience
I have 6 years of tutoring experience at Bonas MacFarlane tutoring agency in London. I worked with children aged from 3 up to adults, in topics including Maths, English, History and Politics. Particular jobs of note include: - Teaching a family of three children, ages 4, 6 and 8 for 1.5 years (10 hours per week). - Successfully preparing 2 children for entrance into King's College School in Cambridge. - Working with a non-native English speaker to improve her English enough to attend and understand Parent-Teacher evening. - Preparing a 19 year old for University exams at KCL, from scratch. As a former PhD student, I have also taught at university level. I have also worked with essay writing and editing, and am particularly good at clarifying essay content and making sure it fits to word counts. Having lived abroad in Serbia, Turkey, Lebanon and now the Netherlands, I have taught many students for whom English is not their first language. I have also taught several special needs children, and have particular experience of children with attention related issues. I use very hands-on, interactive style learning for such children, making sure they don't get bored and can fully benefit from one-on-one teaching. For this I use maps, books, models, scientific experiments and trips into the outside world, with great past success.

Hobbies
I enjoy exploring new places, particularly cities. I love finding new museums and galleries, and taking photographs. I also enjoy using my craft skills to improve the learning experience. In previous jobs I've made experimental volcanoes, models of the solar system, dinosaur costumes and interactive treasure maps for the children I've worked with.
