Experience

I have been tutoring children of all ages for 10+ years. I mostly work with middle and high school students, and have helped over 15 students successfully prepare for their IB, AP, IGCSE, A-Level, SAT and ACT exams. I have quite a strong technical background given my PhD in finance and MSc in engineering, so math and science classes are some of my favorites to teach. I spent 6 months volunteering with an NGO in Nicaragua, teaching English and Health classes to children as young as 5 years old, and to adults in pursuit of English-based employment. I was enrolled in the IB program from 2010-2012 at the International School of Bangkok, in which I earned the following marks: IB HL Maths: 7 IB HL Chemistry: 7 IB HL Economics: 7 IB SL Spanish: 7 IB SL Computer Science: 7 IB SL English: 6 Total IB Score: 43/45 Some standardized test results: SAT Subject - Math II: 800 SAT Subject - Chemistry: 780 SAT Subject - Spanish: 780 SAT Main Test: 2250 Breakdown: Math: 800 Reading Comprehension: 720 Writing: 730

Hobbies

Hi reader :) I am probably the most enthusiastic and versatile tutor in Amsterdam! I have been tutoring students for over 10 years at various levels, though most have been middle and highschool students (the latter preparing for IB/ AP/ A-level/ IGCSC exams). I have several relevant degrees (PhD and MSc in financial justice from University of Amsterdam, BS and MS in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania [Ivy League]). I mainly teach math (any level, ranging from simple arithmetic to advanced university-level calculus), though have also helped students prepare for highschool level Chemistry and Economics exams. What makes me a UNIQUE tutor (in addition to the extensive background) is my PERSONAL approach to tutoring. I customise my teaching approach to each and every student, spanning the way I present material & work through problems, the length and structure of our sessions, and the type of feedback the student needs to thrive. I also give all of my students my personal phone number so that they can contact me OUTSIDE OF HOURS at NO COST if they are struggling while studying on night(s) leading up to exams! It's not just about covering material; I firmly believe that tutoring is about tailorizing the learning experience so that students self-develop the necessary tools to thrive in their courses and eventually DONT NEED a tutor :)
